BodyVoice Training for Performers

Voice & speech, voice/body connection, accent and dialect, ACTING

Vocal training for actors is about unlocking the richness, clarity, and full vocal range available to you through the powerful instrument you already possess—your voice.  As actor and coach Larry Moss says, vocal work is something that actors should do on a daily basis— I couldn't agree more. But the piece we often overlook is the importance of working the whole instrument - the body AND voice. It takes time and dedication to fully realize the value and capability of your instrument, to grasp how much more is available to you as an actor when you have expanded your vocal and physical capabilities, and to find a place where you no longer have to think about what you might do with your instrument. That’s where we want to get you, at a place where your body and voice - your BodyVoice - simply respond as you wish, no matter the demands of the role you are playing.

As a Certified Trainer of Lessac Kinesensic BodyVoice Training, I believe that the importance of training the actor as a whole, and not just individual parts, cannot be overstated.  BodyVoice training for actors is not just about isolating the voice - it requires awareness of your body and breath, and how they are connected; it requires the awareness of how the bodyvoice connects to intention and imagination - to fully understand and perfect your instrument. With time, dedication, and a sense of playful curiosity, you can find new levels in your acting that will elevate your work beyond your current limits.
